Honda unveils new Civic
Honda has released a new version of the Civic for the start of 2008. It is titled the SE+ and gets a range of exterior enhancements and equipment on top of the standard SE trim including 6-inch alloys, body-colored skirts and spoiler. Principally the car is designed to appeal to the Civics’ increasingly youthful customer.
It is powered by Honda’s 1.4-litre i-DSi engine and costs just £14,900 on-the-road Honda expected to produce 140,000 Civics when it reaches maximum manufacturing capacity later in 2008, with a limited 1,000 unit vivid blue or alabaster silver model also set for launch.
The new model features 16-inch alloy wheels as well as a body colored side skirt and spoiler. It is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine. The SE+ also comes with metallic paint but is available only in blue or silver. The outgoing Civic earned many words of praise, but “quiet” wasn’t one of them.
Honda has finally turned its attention to the Civics’ road noise problem, and the new model is remarkably quiet with only a wee bit of wind noise intruding over 75 MPH.
Overall If you want cheap-n-cheerful, the Mazda3 might be more your speed. But if you’re looking for the safest, cushiest, and most advanced compact car on the market, you’re going to love the new Civic.
The Civic is exceptionally agile and responsive. Powerful braking is achieved with front disc and rear drum brakes on DX and LX vehicles, while the EX sports discs all around.
