‘Thailand, not India to be export hub for small car’

New Delhi, Feb 5 (PTI) Japanese carmaker Honda will make Thailand the export hub for its upcoming small car, which is being designed for the Indian market, according to a top official of its Indian subsidiary.

The company’s Indian subsidiary Honda Siel Cars India, is gearing up to launch the small car in the country in 2011 but it will be focusing on the domestic market.

“India was never meant to be the export hub for the (small) car. India was meant to be the lead country in the sense that the car is being designed for India just like Japan is the lead country for the Jazz and the US is the lead market for the Accord,” Honda Siel Cars India Vice President Jnaneshwar Sen told PTI on the sidelines of the Honda Yes Awards.
